Bacon For A Crowd
You have people coming over for breakfast. You want to serve those people bacon. You want the bacon to be hot. You don't want to fry it because that would require several pans, it would make a mess and it would be hard to manage while entertaining guests. You may think to yourself, "Maybe bacon's not worth it." But you would be wrong: bacon's always worth it! And there's an easy solution that you should know about; lean in close, and I'll tell you.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Put a wire cooling rack on a cookie sheet. Lay your raw uncooked bacon on top, being sure that each strip has some space:
[Note: this wonderful bacon comes from Lindy & Grundy.]
Pop the cookie sheet into the oven.
20 minutes later, check your bacon. It should be cooked to perfection; if it still has some fat on it, let it go longer until it's crispy, then take the pan out of the oven:
That's it. There's your bacon. And unlike bacon fried in a skillet, this bacon maintains its shape better--you get actual bacon strips and, therefore, more bang for your buck. And all the bacon's done at the same time. Serve it up on a plate lined with paper towels, to catch that extra fat (it'll make the bacon crisper, less soggy):
And while your guests are gnawing on perfectly crisp bacon, cook 'em up some waffles:
Try this recipe. It's a knockout.
Have a great weekend!
